Bills Life: P. Brown hits the field while his mom hits the classroom

Posted Aug 5, 2017

In this week's Bills Life, the Moms Football Safety Clinic was a hit, safety Jordan Poyer spent some quality time with his daughter, and Jim Kelly welcomes football greats into the Hall of Fame.

1. While Preston Brown hits the field, Patrice Brown hits the classroom

Thursday, July 27 was a busy day in the world of family and football. While Bills LB Preston Brown hit the field for the opening day of Bills Training Camp, presented by Connors & Ferris, his mom, Patrice Brown, hit the classroom to speak on a panel at the Moms Football Safety Clinic. Held at St. John Fisher College, the fourth annual event brought in 50 local youth football moms to learn from representatives from both the Bills and USA Football. The panel also included Bills Owner Kim Pegula, Amy Brandon, wife of Bills Managing Partner and President Russ Brandon, Dr. Jennifer McVige of DENT Neurologic Institute, and Director of Equipment Operations Jeffrey Mazurek.

Luckily, for Mrs. Brown, her son plays for a team where safety is a top priority. The panel provided unique and diverse perspectives on safety and awareness for mothers of athletes. Brown shed light on the fact that as a mother, a child’s safety is always a top priority, and the best thing a mother can do is be informed, not afraid.

“We empower them, inform them, give them all the information that we can, so they can make good decisions,” explained Brown.

After the informational panel, the moms took to the field to learn some basic safety maneuvers and drills led by USA Football Master Trainers, Ken Stoldt and Rob Currin. The entire day proved both fun and educational.

    2.  All work, some play for safety Jordan Poyer

After four days of practice, the Buffalo Bills were rewarded with a day off. Newly signed safety Jordan Poyer took this as an opportunity to spend some quality time with his seven-month-old daughter. The safety has been putting work in on the field during practice, so was thrilled to have some time off to spend with family. Taking to social media to gush over his recently born daughter, Poyer proved quite the family man.

      3. NFL Legends join Jim Kelly in the Hall of Fame

15 years ago, Bills legendary quarterback, Jim Kelly, was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame. Thursday, Aug. 3, Kelly attended the 2017 Hall of Fame Game and spent time with other football greats. Kicking off the NFL Preseason, the game featured a NFC matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals. The exciting Hall of Fame weekend will continue on Saturday evening, as the entire 2017 Class is enshrined in pro football history forever. Joining the likes of Kelly are running back LaDainian Tomlinson, quarterback Kurt Warner, defensive end Jason Taylor, safety Kenny Easley, kicker Morten Andersen, running back Terrell Davis and Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones.

LT warming up to go in and kick an extra point. I DONT THINK SO. Having a blast at the HOF GAME.
