Bills elevate TE Caussin

Posted Nov 7, 2011

The Bills decided to add a third tight end to the active roster Monday. Buffalo elevated Mike Caussin from the team’s practice squad to the 53-man roster as he joins Scott Chandler and Lee Smith at the position group.

“We like what he’s been able to do for us and with getting Aaron Williams back to practice we released Terrence Wheatley and made room for him,” said head coach Chan Gailey.

Caussin is considered more of a pass-catching tight end and could potentially provide the Bills with another receiving option in Buffalo’s spread attack.

The Bills initially had three tight ends on the active roster to start the season, but injuries suffered at cornerback to Terrence McGee and Aaron Williams in the first three games necessitated a roster move to re-fortify that position. Veteran tight end David Martin was released as a result. Buffalo has gone with just two tight ends since that time.

Ironically, the player signed in place of Martin was Terrence Wheatley.
