Brinkley (6-1, 252) is a four-year veteran who played for the Cardinals last season appearing in 15 games in a part-time role that included three starts. The 28-year old lined up mainly at inside linebacker in Arizona’s 3-4 front.
He was released by the Cardinals this past Monday as part of a salary cap purge by Arizona.
Brinkley’s best season was in 2012 when in 15 starts for Minnesota he posted 99 tackles and three forced fumbles as the team’s middle linebacker.
The linebacker was originally a fifth-round pick of the Vikings in 2009.
