Bills release Stroud

The Bills began the process of adjusting their roster over the past week releasing a pair of linebackers and re-signing Jon Corto. The organization took a much bigger step on Wednesday parting ways with veteran defensive end Marcus Stroud.

Stroud started 45-of-46 games and posted 7.5 sacks since joining Buffalo in 2008 via a trade with Jacksonville. The defensive lineman just completed his 10^th NFL season in 2010.

Buffalo is looking to re-stock their defensive line corps this offseason. With reliable veterans like Dwan Edwards and Spencer Johnson already in the fold, the Bills may look to add some youth through the draft or some younger free agent talent.

Bills GM Buddy Nix did not deny that the personnel department is looking to make additions up front after assessing some of the college talent at the Senior Bowl last month.

“I thought there was a good group of defensive ends there and that’s normally the hardest thing to find,” Nix said. “Obviously you’ve got to have a big nose tackle. We drafted one last year. We’re happy with (Torell) Troup. We’re happy with (Alex) Carrington, we just need a couple of more now.”

Buffalo now has three defensive ends under contract for 2011 on their roster.
