Bills sign S Robert Blanton and DT Deandre Coleman

Posted Sep 20, 2017

The Bills re-signed two former players on Wednesday morning. S Robert Blanton returns after spending 2016 in Buffalo. DT Deandre Coleman returns after spending the 2017 offseason in Buffalo.

The Bills filled the two vacant roster spots on their 53-man squad Wednesday, signing a pair of familiar players. Buffalo signed DT DeAndre Coleman and S Robert Blanton.

Coleman, 6-5, 341, earned a spot on the 53-man roster coming out of training camp and had earned the praise of defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

“[He’s] a really good story, a guy who has really bought into the message that Mike Waufle is delivering in that defensive line room and what we’re trying to get across from a defensive standpoint,” said Frazier earlier this month. “The energy he played with, the fact that he attacked the weight issues the way he did, and his attitude. He’s been terrific in that way and we saw tremendous improvement on the field.”

Coleman was moved off the roster a couple of weeks ago as the team adjusted it’s positional needs, but the second-year player returns now and could be needed if Marcell Dareus’ ankle injury keeps him sidelined.

Buffalo also re-signed S Robert Blanton. The six-year veteran played in 10 games for the Bills last season, including two starts, registering 35 tackles.

He was most recently with the Dallas Cowboys in 2017.
