Buffalo added a free agent center with a good deal of starting experience Monday.

Through the first week of free agency the Bills put a heavy emphasis on adding to their defense. As the second week of free agency began, Buffalo addressed their offense coming to terms with C Russell Bodine, who made a free agent visit to One Bills Drive Monday.

Bodine, 25, who signed a two-year contract with Buffalo, has been a full-time starter at center for the Cincinnati Bengals since they made him a fourth-round pick in 2014. The pivot man has never missed a start in his career. In fact, his 64-game start streak is the second-longest in the league among centers with only Dallas’ Travis Frederick having a longer stretch (80 games).

According to Pro Football Focus, Bodine surrendered just one sack and one quarterback hit on 962 snaps last season, while committing just three penalties.

Bodine (6-3, 310) is expected to be direct competition for Ryan Groy for the team’s starting center spot, which is now vacant after the career-ending neck injury sustained by Eric Wood.
