Corto signs extension

Posted Feb 11, 2011

The Buffalo Bills announced Friday that they have signed safety Jon Corto to a contract extension.

With three accrued seasons Corto under the old labor agreement would’ve been classified as a restricted free agent. No free agency rules will exist beyond March 3rd until a new league labor agreement is reached.

The Orchard Park native has been a special teams stalwart for the Bills for each of the past three seasons after making the 53-man roster in 2008, following a year on the practice squad.

Corto’s 2010 season got off to a late start after a broken wrist in the summer forced him to miss all of training camp and landed him on the Reserve/PUP list at the start of the regular season.

He missed the first five games, but appeared in the last 11 of the 2010 campaign finishing tied for fifth on the team in special teams tackles.

As per team policy details of Corto’s extension were not disclosed.
