Get to know some new Bills

Under the new regime, head coach Sean McDermott and GM Brandon Beane have made roster changes across the board. Some positions have been completely turned over. Here are some interesting facts about some of the new guys who will suit up in Bills uniforms this season.


Quarterbacks
Nathan Peterman -
You can say Nate Peterman was literally raised in the church. His father, Chuck, started the Creekside Christian Church out of their Florida home in 2002.“I think that’s why I play the game is so I can worship Jesus Christ,” Peterman said.

Joe Webb - He took over the reins of the UAB offense from country music star and former Blazers quarterback Sam Hunt. They both stay in touch today.

Running Backs
Joe Banyard -
Growing up in rural Sweetwater, TX, Banyard is no stranger to rattlesnakes. He has caught them since he was a child and has taken part in the “World’s largest Rattlesnake Roundup,” in his hometown.

Patrick DiMarco - The reason he wears number 42 is because of his childhood sports idol, Jevon Kearse.

Taiwan Jones - His biggest obstacle that he had to overcome on the way to success in the NFL wasn’t a physical one, but a mental one. It wasn’t until halfway through his senior year of high school that he was diagnosed with the learning disorder dyslexia.

Mike Tolbert - Favorite meal is mom’s fried pork chops, cornbread, cabbage and broccoli & cheese casserole.

Wide Receivers
Kaelin Clay -
“Growing up in California, especially the Long Beach area we grew up in, like skateboarding in the 2000’s was crazy… I love skateboarding,” Clay said.

Andre Holmes - Would like to be on the reality show ‘Beat Bobby Flay.’

“So I think I have my dish that I would use, if ya know, I got to Bobby Flay,” Holmes said.

Zay Jones - Popular hobby of his is watching movies.

“One of my passions would be a huge movie guy for sure, a huge fan of Denzel Washington. If it’s like Training Day, Remember The Titans, Flight, Man On Fire, those are my movies for sure,” Jones said.

Jordan Matthews - If he could play another sport, he’d want to play small forward for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Brandon Tate - Played basketball in high school. He won a state championship and played against Steph Curry in AAU.               

Defensive backs
S Trae Elston -
Nickname is Trip.

“I was kind of athletic, so I played a lot of positions back when I was young and you know everybody called me Trip and I got it tattooed on my chest, triple threat… everybody just made it short and started calling me Trip,” Elston said.

CB E.J. Gaines - Was named to the Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie team in 2014 with the Rams.

S Micah Hyde - Cut wood and baled hay for his first job.

CB Leonard Johnson - Favorite childhood sports idol was South Florida CB Theo Wilson.

CB Greg Mabin - A hidden talent about the rookie is that he can freestyle rap.

S Jordan Poyer - Was drafted in the 42nd round of the 2009 MLB Draft by the Marlins.

CB Tre’Davious White - Just days after being drafted to the Bills, Tre’Davious and his girlfriend celebrated the birth of their first child, Tre’Davious Jr.

CB Shareece Wright - He owns a trucking company named S. Wright Enterprises, which is based in Fontana, CA.

Specialists
LS Reid Ferguson -
He played for LSU from 2012 to 2015 and his brother, Blake, followed in his footsteps heading to LSU, also as a long snapper.“We kinda both feed off each other. He sees my success, I see his success, and that kind of reflects on the both of us,” Ferguson said.

K Stephen Hauschka - Favorite sports memory is going to Brazil and watching the USA men’s team beat Portugal in 2014.

“I follow that U.S. men’s national team a lot. I have a lot of pride in watching them play,” Hauschka said.
