LeSean McCoy a game time decision for Sunday

Posted Oct 21, 2016

Bills RB LeSean McCoy was a surprise participant in practice Friday. He's listed as questionable for Sunday's game as he's expected to test his ailing hamstring the morning of the game at Miami.

Despite reports on Thursday that LeSean McCoy would sit out Buffalo’s game Sunday at Miami, the door is still open for McCoy to play against the Dolphins this weekend. For the first time since aggravating his hamstring Wednesday, McCoy practice on Friday on a limited basis and is listed as questionable for Sunday.

“He looked pretty good. We’ll be smart with him, but he looked pretty good,” said head coach Rex Ryan. “We’ll see how it goes. But again we’re confident in the guys that we have behind him. But not ruling Shady out at all.”

Ryan confirmed that McCoy will be a game time decision on Sunday.

McCoy admitted he didn’t take many reps Friday and that he did not really push his ailing hamstring much during the practice session.

“I just felt alright. I didn’t do a lot of reps. I was real limited,” McCoy said. “Just seeing how I feel. We’ll see what happens (Saturday).

McCoy is most interested to see how his hamstring feels Saturday after practicing on it Friday. He said he’ll continue to get daily treatments on his hamstring from the athletic training staff.

“The biggest thing is waiting to see how I feel Sunday. That’s the most important thing,” McCoy said. “Get the same treatment. I’ve been doing a lot of preparation as if I’m playing, so I’ve just got to stay positive and keep up with the treatments and getting the mindset that I can go out there and play.”

The Bills are at a pivotal point in their schedule. Winners of four straight, they have an important division game this week as well as next week against New England. McCoy knows he has to be smart, but with the singular focus the team has adopted each week, the Bills feature back isn’t looking past this Sunday’s matchup.

“I’m just trying to be smart,” he said. “It’s a long season, but this is a game we must win so…”

“I’d like to play him,” Ryan said. “If he’s ready to go then we’re going to play him without question. We’re looking at this game only, but obviously we want him healthy. If you see him out there it’s because we believe he’s healthy.”

Dareus, Woods doubtful
The news is not as positive for DT Marcell Dareus and WR Robert Woods. Both are listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game as neither player practiced this week. But Ryan did affirm that both Dareus and Woods are of the caliber where they would play if they’re able to despite not practicing during the week.

“I’m still day to day and getting treatment,” said Woods. “I’m just battling a foot injury and trying to get back as fast as I can.”

“I’m feeling good, working my way back out there and trying to get it together,” said Dareus. “I honestly don’t know (about Sunday). We’re paying as much attention to detail as we can just to make sure that I can do the things that I want to do and not have a relapse and go backwards. I’ll leave it up to the trainers. I feel good, but at the same time we want to take proper precautions.”
