Marcell Dareus named to NFL's Top 100

Bills DT Marcell Dareus was ranked 62nd among the top 100 NFL players in the Top 100 countdown on NFL Network.

BACKGROUND

Drafted in the first-round (3rd overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft ... highest draft pick in team history since 1985 when Buffalo selected Bruce Smith (Virginia Tech) No. 1 overall ... becomes the third Alabama product drafted by Buffalo (DB Raymond Abruzzese, 1962 and RB John Wright, 1988).

-6th defensive lineman – and 1st DT – to appear on the list thus far (Cameron Jordan #99, Sheldon Richardson #94, Justin Smith #69, Jared Allen #68, and Cameron Wake #66)

THE 2013 SEASON

-Set a career high with 71 tackles and 7.5 sacks on the season - his 71 tackles placed him second among NFL defensive tackles

-Was one of five NFL defenders to reach 70 tackles and 7.0 sacks in 2013

-Vs. NE (9/8): Totaled a split-sack, five tackles (four solo) along with a quarterback hit and a pass deflection

-Vs. CAR (9/15): Contributed four tackles, two quarterback hits and shared a sack with DE Mario Williams on a Panthers’ third-down play

-At NYJ (9/22): Made two solo tackles

-Vs. BAL (9/29): Recorded 2.0 sacks - his third career multi-sack game) and led the defensive line with seven tackles (five solo)... part of a defense that matched a team record without allowing a rushing first down (three other games) and held the Ravens to 24 rushing yards (tied as the fifth-fewest allowed in team history)

-At CLE (10/3): Tallied five tackles in his fifth start of the season

-Vs. CIN (10/13): Recorded his fourth sack of the season - the 15th of his NFL career - to go along with four solo tackles

-At MIA (10/20): Led the defensive line with a six tackle performance (four solo)

-At NO (10/27): Contributed four tackles - all solo - at the Saints

-Vs. KC (11/3): Led the defensive line with five tackles (four solo)... helped limit the Chiefs’ rushing attack to 95 yards, the first time in 2013 Kansas City’s backfield was held to under 100 yards

-At PIT (11/10): Recorded a strip-sack of Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, his fifth sack of the 2013 season, and first career forced fumble

-Vs. NYJ (11/17): Tallied three tackles, increasing his season total to 50 stops - his first 50-tackle season of his NFL career... added a pass break-up

-Vs. ATL (12/1): Brought down Falcons QB Matt Ryan for a sack... finished the game with a career-best eight tackles

-At TB (12/8): Notched the his seventh sack of the season, increasing his season-best with a takedown of Tampa Bay QB Mike Glennon... added three tackles• Vs. JAC (12/15): Produced three tackles, along with a half sack of Jacksonville QB Chad Henne, extending his new career-best total to 7.5 on the season

-Vs. MIA (12/22): Made three solo tackles and a quarterback hit... set a career-high with 11 hits on the quarterback in 2013... part of a defense that held Miami to 103 total yards - fifth fewest in team history - and 14 rushing yards, second-fewest

-At NE (12/29): Tallied four tackles (one solo) en route to increasing his career high of 71 on the season
