McGee suffers setback

Posted Aug 28, 2012

The long road to recovery for Terrence McGee coming off patellar tendon surgery saw a bump in the road after practice Monday and it kept him off the practice field Tuesday. It will also keep him out of the preseason finale Thursday night in Detroit.

“Terrence had a setback yesterday,” said Gailey following Tuesday's practice. "His knee got a little weaker in practice yesterday so we’re sitting him and seeing where he goes looking into the future. He’s not going to play this week so we’ll have to see where that takes us.”

McGee has been working diligently through training camp and the preseason to have his surgically repaired knee ready for the regular season. Coming out of the Pittsburgh game where he played 15-20 snaps, McGee experienced some residual soreness and practicing again Monday may fatigued the knee further.

Gailey expressed concern about McGee’s availability moving forward.

“Yeah you always are (worried),” said Gailey. “Until a guy can go out there and play consistently and have no setbacks you get worried. I’ve got a lot more confidence with where Eric Wood is than I do with Terrence McGee because Eric has had no setbacks. Terrence has had a couple of setbacks during the course of camp and preseason practice.”

When asked if the setback could put McGee’s roster spot in jeopardy come final cuts on Friday, Gailey indicated that would not be the case.

“I don’t see that right now,” said Gailey. “No, I don’t see that.”
