Quick Hits: Benjamin out for Sunday

Posted Dec 1, 2017

Kelvin Benjamin has been declared out for Sunday while Pat DiMarco, Nick O'Leary and Eddie Yarbrough will be questionable.

Benjamin out for Sunday
Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin will not play in Sunday’s game against the Patriots. Unable to practice at all with his teammates for a second straight week, the receiver will miss the all-important division matchup with New England.

“It’s frustrating, but at the same time I can’t wait to get back,” said Benjamin.

He was able to go through some ladder drills and other exercises with athletic trainers on the side this week. Benjamin intends to continue to work to return to the lineup sooner rather than later.

“Pretty much just go at it. Attack my rehab and try to get back as fast as I can,” he said.

McCoy won’t practice
Bills feature back LeSean McCoy will not practice on Friday. Head coach Sean McDermott provided an update.

“LeSean has a little bit of knee soreness,” said McDermott. “It does not look like he will miss (the game) at this point. It looks good that he’ll play.”

McCoy was firsts added to the injury report following Thursday’s practice when the soreness first surfaced, though he practiced fully.

The offense has relied on McCoy a bit more this season. Through the first 11 games last season, McCoy had a total of 185 touches between his rushes (157) and receptions (28). This season through 11 games McCoy has 192 rushes alone and a total of 238 touches.

In 2016 McCoy averaged 19 touches per game. So far this season, McCoy is averaging 21.6 touches per game.

McDermott said that McCoy won’t be listed with a designation on the injury report because he is expected to play on Sunday against the Patriots.

DiMarco, O’Leary, Yarbrough questionable
There are a number of players whose status for Sunday’s game will be up in the air. Pat DiMarco, Nick O’Leary and Eddie Yarbrough will all be listed as questionable for the game against the Patriots this weekend.

DiMarco is expected to practice Friday after tweaking his ankle.

“We’re going to list him questionable for the game,” said McDermott. “But we think he’s going to end up being able to play.”

Nick O’Leary has been unable to practice all week with a back injury. His availability for Sunday appears more uncertain. Yarbrough returned to practice on Thursday in a limited capacity.

Seantrel Henderson will also be listed as questionable as he will miss practice today due to an illness. The offensive tackle has been utilized as a sixth offensive lineman in some of Buffalo’s heavy run packages the last three games.

Out for Sunday’s game are Cordy Glenn, John Miller and Mike Tolbert.
