Three defensive tackles among Bills inactives

Posted Sep 24, 2017

Buffalo has chosen to go with just three defensive tackles for their game day roster against the Broncos today.

The Bills knew going into the game that they would be down a pair of defensive tackles for sure. Both Marcell Dareus (ankle) and Jerel Worthy (concussion) were declared out for today’s game on Friday. But reserve DT DeAndre Coleman is also inactive for Buffalo’s matchup with Denver this afternoon.

That will leave the Bills with veteran Kyle Williams, Cedric Thornton and Adolphus Washington as the only defensive tackles in uniform today.

The Broncos offense does employ a three-wide look a good deal on offense, so the Bills might spend a good deal of the game in a nickel package anyway. In subpackages DE Ryan Davis has often kicked down inside to a defensive tackle position with LB Lorenzo Alexander moving up on the line as a pass rusher off the edge.

DE Shaq Lawson has also moved inside in certain subpackages defensively.

Also of note, rookie OT Dion Dawkins will be making his first career NFL start today in place of the injured Cordy Glenn.

Here is the full inactive list for Buffalo today.
