The Buffalo Bills elected their team captains at a team meeting Monday morning, with just three players chosen to wear the patch with the 'C' on their uniform.
For Jackson and Williams its the third straight season they're serving as captains.
For Wood it's his first year as a team captain. The center just signed a long term contract extension Friday.
"Stepping into a leadership role is something that the coaches have talked to me about and I'm ready to be a more vocal leader," Wood said after signing his contract.
As captains the players will assist in team communication with the officials during games.
In May 2007, the NFL introduced the team captain initiative with the purpose of supporting and recognizing the importance of team leadership. The initiative has been strongly endorsed by the NFL head coaches and by the six-member NFL Player Advisory Council that was established by Commissioner Roger Goodell in conjunction with the NFL Players Association.
