With center Eric Wood out indefinitely and offensive tackle Chris Hairston also injured and very iffy for Sunday’s game against St. Louis, the Bills are again thin on the offensive line. It prompted the club to make a pre-emptive roster move Monday as they released veteran LB Kirk Morrison.

Morrison re-signed with the Bills this past spring after originally signing as a free agent prior to the 2011 season. Relegated to backup duty at linebacker in 2012, Morrison was beat out for playing time at strong side linebacker coming out of training camp by Arthur Moats and Nigel Bradham.

The 10-year veteran did not dress for a single game this season.

The Bills are expected to use the vacant roster spot to fortify the offensive line with some depth with rookie David Snow now thrust into the starting lineup at either guard or center with Wood out with a torn MCL. Chris Hairston is also not expected to be ready in time for Sunday’s home game against St. Louis moving Sam Young into the starting right tackle role.

That would leave just OT Thomas Welch as a reserve lineman on Sunday.

 “We’ll probably have to make some kind of roster move to give us a little bit more depth on the offensive line,” said head coach Chan Gailey.
