Q: Talk about the last drive and the two plays early in the drive where you caught two balls over the middle.
A: That’s something that we talk about in our room all the time. In the two-minute drill, running backs are big. Once we get the ball, because the defense has dropped back trying to cover everything deep, we can catch the ball and get north. We can get some good yardage and E.J. came to me and I was trying to do whatever I could to get us in position to win the football game.
Q: You’ve been on the wrong end of a lot of close heartbreaking losses like that. What does it feel like to be on the other side?
A: It’s great. Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come and we can keep putting together tough wins like that. A lot of games are going to come down (to the end) like that, so hopefully we can build off of this one and get some more wins.
Q: How much of a confidence builder for a young player like E.J. is a situation like that?
A: It’s got to be huge for him, but the one thing about him is that he’s shown poise like that since he got here. We had all the confidence in the world in him and he just proved us right. Hopefully we can continue to work and get better.
