With several players on Buffalo’s roster back in the building for voluntary offseason workouts, the Bills also hosted a new face, as unrestricted free agent DT Alan Branch visited One Bills Drive.

An anchor on the interior of the defensive line, Branch (6-6, 325) played each of the last two seasons in Seattle, starting all 31 games he played in while racking up 37 tackles and four sacks. Branch was originally drafted by Arizona in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played his first four NFL seasons with the Cardinals, seeing action in 47 career games with three starts.

Likely seen as a piece to help the Bills transition to defensive coordinator Mike Pettine’s versatile scheme, Branch is regarded as a rugged, physical player who can control the line of scrimmage to help free up secondary defenders. Branch played in a hybrid defense in Seattle and has experience as a true nose guard but he also has two-gap ability.
