The Bills hosted a free agent for a visit at One Bills Drive Monday with an eye on their special teams unit.

Buffalo hosted free agent running back and special teams ace Montell Owens.

“I think you look at a player that’s a veteran player that has been in this league and has seven years experience,” said Bills head coach Doug Marrone. “You can add depth at the running back position and really be a core special teams player for you. He’s here on a visit. I have not had the chance to sit down and speak with him yet and I’ll do that this afternoon to see where the situation is.”

Owens (5'11", 225) has spent his entire seven-year NFL career with the Jacksonville Jaguars after making the club as an undrafted rookie in 2006.

The 29-year old, has been selected twice for the Pro Bowl as a special teamer. He also holds the Jaguars franchise record for career special teams tackles with 118.

Owens was released last Thursday by Jacksonville.

In his career he has 56 rushes for 292 yards and three touchdowns. He also has 12 career receptions for 132 yards.
