Jairus Byrd: "I've got to be 100 percent to go out there"

Posted Sep 9, 2013

The Bills safety talks with the media about when he'll be ready to play, and if he would've made a difference yesterday.

FS Jairus Byrd

Q: As a proud athlete and a guy who went to a couple Pro Bowls, if you’re out there do you think you win the game?
A: I don’t like to look in to what if’s. It is what it is. At the end of the day we didn’t pull it out and those guys are more than capable out there to make plays. I don’t want to put in the, 'What if I was out there?'

Q: How close were you to being ready for that game?
A: I don’t know, I’m just waiting on my feet honestly. Whenever they get ready and get right, that’s when I’ll be able to go out there.

Q: Was it your decision or a team decision?
A: Yeah, I got to be 100 percent to go out there and be ready to go. Once (my feet are) ready to go, I’m (going to be) the first one to say, ‘Hey I’m ready to get back in there.’

Q: Is it a more frustrating injury because it’s not a break or a sprain?
A: Yeah, it takes time. You guys can Google it and see what people prescribe for it, the stretching, stuff like that, orthotics. It’s just something that takes time and once it goes away it comes and just kind of leaves.
