“Where would you rather be than right here, right now?” “You over-officious jerk!” We know these lines from Hall of Fame Bills coach Marv Levy because of the late great Steve Sabol. Levy took some time on the John Murphy Show to talk about what a great man Sabol was, and that even though his father started NFL Films, Steve is the one who made it what it was. Marv shared a great story about the latter quote which can be heard in the podcast above. Levy also commented on the current game, and said that even though passing numbers are higher than ever you still need to run and stop the run to be successful, and the Bills rushing attack is good enough for the team to win.
As much as the loss to the Patriots stung, Bills fans have to feel a little better watching the Jets struggle. Kim Jones from the NFL Network had a first-hand look at New York’s 34-0 loss to the 49ers. Jones says the Jets are a mess right now, as they can’t run, can’t stop the run and Mark Sanchez is completing less than 50% of his passes. The other side of that coin is that San Francisco, the Bills’ next opponent, looked extremely impressive. Most notably backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick impressed Jones, as he out-rushed the entire Jets team, and showed he’s not afraid to air it out.
