A former sixth-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011, Williams has spent the better part of the last two seasons on Buffalo’s practice squad. The guard has battled injuries since the spring practices and has missed time in training camp as well.
The release of Williams marks the seventh roster transaction by Buffalo in the last three days. Buffalo’s roster now stands at 81 counting OT Chris Hairston, who is on Active/PUP and S Jairus Byrd, who counts toward the roster total since he was tendered as the club’s franchise player.
The Bills need to reduce their roster to 75 players a week from Tuesday (Aug. 27th).
