QB Thad Lewis has sprained foot

Posted Oct 13, 2013

Lewis hobbled up to the postgame lectern following Buffalo’s 27-24 overtime loss to Cincinnati with his right foot in an immobilizer boot.

Quarterback Thad Lewis was making his first start in a Bills uniform Sunday. Whether he’ll be able to make a second consecutive start is up for debate. Lewis hobbled up to the postgame lectern following Buffalo’s 27-24 overtime loss to Cincinnati with his right foot in an immobilizer boot.

Fortunately for Lewis X-rays on his foot were negative.

“We checked it out. I should be fine,” said Lewis. “We did the tests on it I should be fine so that’s a great sign.”

Lewis himself doesn’t recall a specific play when he sustained the sprained foot, but admitted it did not improve as the game wore on. In between series he was riding a stationary bike on the sideline in an effort to keep his foot from stiffening up.

His limp was noticeable as he would jog from the sideline for each successive series in the second  half.

“It’s just a sprain on the foot,” said Lewis. “They said the X-rays looked good, so I guess that’s positive. It’s a good thing.”

Lewis will be re-evaluated on Monday to better ascertain his availability for Buffalo’s upcoming game at Miami next Sunday.

On the heels of Lewis’ injury were reports that free agent QB Matt Flynn had made a trip to Buffalo Sunday. The Bills as an organization do not confirm player workouts.
