Q: Did you think you’d be here in Week Six doing this?

A: Not at all. You never know what’s going to happen, so you just have to stay ready with whatever scenario presents itself.

Q: How comfortable are you with the playbook and do you have everything under control mentally?

A: Yes, yes. I have a great sense of the game plan, a great grasp of it. Like every week, you don’t just sit there on practice squad and not prepare as if you’re a starter because that’s your job, this is what you’re supposed to do. You have to learn, you have to know the things that you have to do. I’ve been doing that every week, so this will just be a regular week for me; I just get the chance to start.

Q: From the outside this looks like a pretty chaotic situation to call up a player from the practice squad and throw them in to the starting line-up. Why is that perspective not accurate in your mind?

A: Because I was from the practice squad, so people think guys are on the practice squad for a certain reason. I just had practice squad eligibility and Jeff Tuel was hot coming out of the preseason and you can’t risk losing a guy like that who can play. I came in and I was traded for, obviously I didn’t get a chance to play as much in the preseason, but I guess that was strategic and smart on their behalf.

Q: Why haven’t you gotten a shot with any of your previous teams?

A: I can’t call it. Different situations, different scenarios. I’m still here today, so I’m hanging around and I’m happy to have a job to be honest.

Q: How much is the game you started last year going to help you this week?

A: Football is football. Last year was a great experience, a humbling experience and a childhood dream to start an NFL game, but since I’ve started an NFL game, now it’s time to move on. You know what to do, you know what to expect, you know what you have to prepare this week, business as usual.

Q: Did you watch the Bengals game from yesterday?

A: Yeah I watched a little bit. In certain situations, they have a great front. If you get yourself in the right protections and get the ball out quick, hopefully you can limit yourself to some of those areas.

Q: Did you find yourself thinking if they’re doing that to Tom Brady, what chance do I have?

A: Not at all. This is the NFL; you’re going to face the best of the best every week. They could’ve done it to anyone. Obviously they had a great game plan going in to that game and was able to get to Tom Brady as much as they did.

Q: Can you afford to look ahead?

A: Not at all. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next five minutes at all. You just take it one day at a time and prepare and just get ready for whatever.

Q: Is it a situation where you’ve got some anxiety or do you feel confident?

A: Yeah, I’m just confident, no anxiety. Its football, it’s something that I’ve been doing since I was five years old and a lot of people don’t understand, it’s not my ability why I was on practice squad, it’s just the certain situation. As long as you’re confident in your ability, you can go out there and do the things that you know how to do.

Q: Obviously it’s a leadership position, how difficult is it when you haven’t had the opportunity to prove yourself on the field to step in the huddle and have the other guys follow you?

A: It’s not difficult. You go out here today in the walkthrough and you show everyone you know what to do. You know the MIKE points, you know the plays, you know the protection and guys feel comfortable with that. As long as I have three days to practice and gel together obviously get timing with the wide receivers, as long as you know what you’re doing the guys will rally behind you.

Q: You get an opportunity to showcase yourself to other teams as well. How important is it to you to take advantage of this chance and put some stuff down on film?

A: Every opportunity that you get since I’ve been in the NFL, you have to take advantage of your opportunity. No matter what the situation is, I get my chance, the opportunity to play Sunday; I want to put my best foot forward. Give us the best opportunity to win. Whatever else happens out there happens. My total focus is just going out there and making sure I do the things I can to do to help my team win on Sunday.

Q: Were you surprised by this announcement or did you see it coming?

A: Not at all, you never know what’s going to happen, you never expect anything. What I’ve learned is you can’t worry about things you can’t control. So when he called me in this morning, obviously he gave me the nod, so now I can control that situation, I can make sure I prepare and know everything I need to know going in to Sunday’s game.

Q: Would you have been disappointed if they brought somebody else in to play?

A: I wouldn’t have been disappointed at all because that wasn’t my call and I can’t handle things like that. So you go about it as a pro, as a professional and done what I’ve done since I got here, give them the best look I can give them as a scout team quarterback.
