Bills agree to terms with LB Torbor

Posted Jun 5, 2010

The Bills took another step in addressing their linebacker depth by agreeing to terms with free agent linebacker Reggie Torbor Saturday. Torbor (6'2", 250), who has played both inside and outside linebacker was just released by the Miami Dolphins just last week.

“The one good thing about Reggie is he brings versatility and that’s the one thing that we really like about him," said head coach Chan Gailey. "Of course (defensive coordinator) George Edwards has had a great deal of experience with Reggie and that’s a positive.”

Edwards served as Torbor's linebackers coach the past two seasons in Miami where Torbor lined up as an inside linebacker in Miami's 3-4 defensive scheme. Torbor played outside linebacker with his previous team the New York Giants. He also played his college ball at Auburn with Bills defensive lineman Spencer Johnson.

"Reggie will be a great addition," said Johnson. "He's a great guy and a great football player. He's familiar with the defense and he's going to come in and help us out a lot. Plus he knows me and he knows Kawika and we all know each other's families so it's going to be a good fit for him."

Torbor made a free agent visit to One Bills Drive on Thursday of this past week and even took in a Bills OTA practice.

"I’m excited about having a guy like him," said Gailey. "He’s a veteran player that’s done a lot of good things and I think he’ll add something to our football team.”

The Auburn product has played six seasons in the NFL, and last year ranked third on the Dolphins in tackles among linebackers.
