Schobel on DNR list; Corto, N. Harris on Active/PUP

Posted Jul 29, 2010

With Aaron Schobel still mulling over his decision as to whether to play or not this season at his Columbus, Texas home, the veteran pass rusher did not meet the 7 am Thursday deadline to report to training camp at St. John Fisher. As a result the team placed Schobel on the Reserve/Did Not Report list.

Schobel’s designation removes him from the active roster so he does not count toward the 80-man roster limit.

In attendance at Bills training camp, but on the sidelines for the forseeable future will be safety Jon Corto and linebacker Nic Harris. Both players were placed on the Active Physically Unable to Perform list Thursday prior to the team's first training camp practice. Both Corto and Harris can come off of that list as soon as they're healthy and begin practicing with the team.

Despite being on Active/PUP both players still count toward a roster spot on the 80-man training camp squad.

Corto underwent wrist surgery at the close of spring camps for a nagging injury suffered during OTAs.

"The injury will keep me out for a few weeks,” said Corto upon arriving at camp Wednesday. "The 22nd or 23rd (of August) is what's projected (for my return), but maybe faster than that. It's healing very fast and I'm looking forward to the season."

Meanwhile Harris is still rehabilitating a knee that underwent surgery near the end of last season. He did not participate in any of the spring practices in May and June. Harris is among the group competing for an inside linebacker role, but has yet to take a snap in the team’s new 3-4 defensive scheme.

With veteran signee Andra Davis, Keith Ellison, Ryan Manalac, Kawika Mitchell, rookie sixth-round pick Arthur Moats and Paul Posluszny all in the mix, it’s a crowded field of candidates for a position that arguably will number just four on the final 53-man roster come September.

Harris’ prognosis for a return to the practice field was not available.
