Promoted to quarterbacks coach in January 2008… assisted in the development of second-year quarterback Trent Edwards in 2008… Edwards’ accomplishments include posting a 65.5 completion percentage to rank sixth in the NFL as well as ranking second all-time for a single season in Bills history, posting a fourth quarter passer rating of 106.3 to rank third in the NFL, and recording four fourth quarter comeback wins in a season for a team record.

COACHING EXPERIENCE: Promoted to quarterbacks coach in January 2008… assisted in the development of second-year quarterback Trent Edwards in 2008… Edwards’ accomplishments include posting a 65.5 completion percentage to rank sixth in the NFL as well as ranking second all-time for a single season in Bills history, posting a fourth quarter passer rating of 106.3 to rank third in the NFL, and recording four fourth quarter comeback wins in a season for a team record. …spent his first two NFL coaching seasons as offensive quality control coach and was in charge of breaking down film of the opponent, working on the development of week’s game-plan and updating the playbook. …joined the coaching staff in 2006 after spending winter 2006 as the quarterbacks coach/pass coordinator for the University at Buffalo…volunteered with the Bills in 2005 as an offensive quality control coach…spent the 2005 NFL Europe season as the Frankfurt Galaxy’s quarterbacks coach where he was responsible for all offensive play-calling.

PLAYING EXPERIENCE: Originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the eighth round of the 1993 NFL Draft …signed with the Buffalo Bills as a free agent in 1995 … spent his entire career as a member of the Bills and played in 31 games, starting 11…amassed 2,985 yards passing and 16 touchdowns.

PERSONAL: A four-year starter at the University of Pittsburgh, holds the school records for most career passing yards (11,267), career completions (867) and career attempts (1,503) … became only the fifth player to throw for 2,000 yards in four consecutive seasons …after retiring from the Bills in 2004, Van Pelt served as the color analyst for the Buffalo Bills Radio Network for two seasons…He and his wife Brooke have two daughters - Payton Dale and Katherine Paige and one son - Jack MacGregor.
