Doug Whaley was named Assistant General Manager/Director of Pro Personnel of the Buffalo Bills on February 10, 2010. Whaley oversees the team’s Pro Personnel department and assists General Manager Buddy Nix in all football-related administrative duties and in the college talent evaluation process.

Doug Whaley was named Assistant General Manager/Director of Pro Personnel of the Buffalo Bills on February 10, 2010. Whaley oversees the team’s Pro Personnel department and assists General Manager Buddy Nix in all football-related administrative duties and in the college talent evaluation process.
Whaley joined the Bills after spending the previous 11 years with the Pittsburgh Steelers. From 1999 – 2009, Whaley served as Pittsburgh’s Pro Scouting Coordinator where he was responsible for advance scouting of the team’s opponents and focused on breaking down opposing players for the team’s upcoming games, evaluating unrestricted and restricted free agents throughout the season and into the free agent offseason period and making campus visits and scouting college players throughout the year.
Prior to re-joining the Steelers in 1999, Whaley served as an East coast area scout for the Seattle Seahawks from 1996 – 1998. Whaley began his career as an assistant in the Steelers’ Pro Personnel department in 1995.
In Whaley’s 12 years with the Steelers, Pittsburgh advanced to the playoffs seven times and captured two Super Bowl (XL and XLIII) titles in three championship game appearances.
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Whaley was a four-year letterwinner as a safety and linebacker for the University of Pittsburgh from 1990 – 1993 where he graduated with a degree in Business Finance. Upon graduation, Whaley worked for one year as a retail stockbroker on Wall Street in 1994. Whaley was a three-sport letterman in football, wrestling and track as a student at Upper St. Clair (Pittsburgh, PA) High School.
