COLLEGE: Played both football and baseball at Indiana University and lettered in football from 1999-2002… Starter his senior year in 2002 and completed 152 of 293 passes for 2,115 yards and nine TDs… was named the Big Ten co-Offensive Player of the Week in a 32-29 victory over Wisconsin after throwing for 310 yards and four touchdowns on 24 of 36 passing… Member of the baseball squad for four years and started his final three seasons as a first baseman… In 2001, batted .335 with six home runs and 38 RBI… Graduated with a degree in marketing.

PERSONAL: Named top Arab-American athlete in 2008 by Nox Magazine (Jordan) … attended Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington, Va… Completed 157 of 298 passes for 2,149 yards and 12 TDs as a senior… Was also the starting center on the basketball team … Played baseball for the 15-and-under U.S. National Baseball team… Born in San Diego, Ca. and moved to Kuwait when he was three years old.

COMMUNITY: Gibran actively volunteers at a number of different community events and programs throughout the year.  In 2008, Gibran was the keynote speaker at the Salvation Army Red Kettle Event and served as one of the spokespeople for the Salvation Army Gift of Warmth sponsored by M&T Bank.  The Gift of Warmth program encourages people to drop off new warm clothing items at M&T Bank branches throughout November and December.

Gibran also participated in the “What Moves U” Challenge kickoff celebration for over 1,700 students in the Buffalo Public Schools. At the celebration he participated in a “What Moves U” themed trivia show and also shared health and fitness tips with the group of 3rd – 6th grade students.

In addition to his participation in the Gift of Warmth and the “What Moves U” Challenge, Gibran regularly speaks with different youth groups.  He was the guest speaker at the WNY Girls in Sports program at which he encouraged young girls to get involved in sports.  Gibran spoke with the Buffalo Bills Time Warner Cable Student Leaders about leadership and community service at the United Way of Buffalo, and also spoke with members of the 4 local state championship football teams in association with the American Dairy Association on the benefits of good nutrition and peak performance on the field and in the classroom.
