COLLEGE: Earned significant accolades as a senior in 2005 when he was named AFCA All-American...GLIAC Player of the Year and First Team All-GLIAC...selected to play in 2006 Cactus Bowl...Named Linebacker of the Year in Division II by Don Hansen's Football Gazette...Named D2Football.com First Team All-American...Named Second Team All-Under Appreciated Team by Consensus Draft Services... broke all-time tackle record at SVSU in the Hillsdale game and compiled 462 career tackles...finished his career ranked third all-time in NCAA Division II history in career tackles...As a senior, tallied 142 tackles including 77 solo stops...ranked eighth nationally in solo tackles (5.9) and 13th in total tackles (10.9)...captain of defense that ranked ninth in Division II allowing 14.7 points per game...registered two interceptions and eight tackles in playoff win at Nebraska-Omaha...recorded 9.5 tackles for loss and five sacks...broke up 10 passes and caused two fumbles. Graduated with a degree in physical and health education and a minor in psychology.

PERSONAL: Played linebacker and running back in high school...led Utica Eisenhower to the state finals in 2000...was an all-state, all-east, all-county, all-metro, and a dream team pick…. Spent the 2008 offseason working on earning his teaching certification as a student teacher at Siebert Elementary School in Midland and Mills Elementary.

COMMUNITY: John is an active member in the Buffalo Bills “What Moves U” Challenge which encourages kids to stay active for at least 60 minutes every day. John helped to introduce the program in a kickoff celebration for over 1,700 students in the Buffalo Public Schools. At the celebration he participated in a “What Moves U” themed trivia show and also shared health and fitness tips with the group of 3rd – 6th grade students.  John is also one of four players featured on trading cards used in the “What Moves U” Challenge.  The trading cards include health and fitness tips from players encouraging kids to stay active as a part of the Play 60 initiative.

John has also volunteered at a number of different community events including a book reading at a local elementary school as a part of Read Across American Day, and the Annual Buffalo Bills Holiday Party for children.
