A four-year starter at the University of Houston, started a school-record 50 games and finished his career ranked 4th in Division I-A history with 12,964 passing yards … almost committed to Oklahoma State before his high school head coach, Philip Montgomery, became an assistant coach at Houston … a two-time All-Conference USA selection, became the first player in school history to throw for over 3,000 yards in three separate seasons … finished as the school’s all-time leader in completions (964), attempts (1,565), and second in TD passes (81) … also posted 21 career rushing TDs, the most ever by a QB … as a senior in 2006, connected on 292 of 432 pass attempts (67.6%) for 3,809 yards, 30 TDs and just four INTs, as he was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year … ranked fifth in the nation in passing efficiency (162.72 rating) and sixth in passing yards (3,809) … finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, given annually to the nation’s top senior QB … became the first true freshman in school history to start the season opener and went on to be named Conference USA Freshman of the Year.

Born August 24, 1984 and is a native of Stephenville, TX… two-time District 8-4A Offensive MVP at Stephenville (TX) High School where he threw for 3,357 and 29 TDs as a senior, earning first-team All-Big County honors …Stephenville has produced nine Division I QBs and Kolb was the only one to start three seasons at the school … also lettered as a guard in basketball and in the sprint relays on the track team … holds an annual football camp in the summer in his hometown of Stephenville.
