1. The Buffalo sack attack is surging
It's safe to say the Bills defensive line is doing its job. They disrupted Denver quarterback Brandon Allen all game holding him to under 100 yards passing. Not to mention they held Denver's rushing attack of Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman to 77 yards.
The defense allowed 134 yards on Sunday – the team's lowest total since a 2013 game against the Miami Dolphins.
With four sacks on Sunday, combined with seven last week at Miami the Bills have 11 in a two-game span for the first time since recording 12 during games 10-11 in 2014.
Most importantly for Buffalo, its young pass rushers have been putting in work. Shaq Lawson recorded his second career multi-sack game and has a two-game sack streak after recording one versus the Dolphins. He now has a career-high 5.0 sacks this season after having 4.0 in both 2017 and 2018.
"Just a phenomenal effort, he brings a lot of effort to our football team during the week," head coach Sean McDermott said, "Today you saw it as well on the field, you know he's one of those dogs in a good way. He likes to hunt and I love having him on our football team, he's one of our catalysts."
The other Bills first-round pick defensive lineman on the roster Ed Oliver is showing flashes as well. He took down Allen for a nine-yard loss on Sunday and raised his season total to 3.0. He's the first Bills rookie with three sacks since Nickell Robey-Coleman in 2013.
2. McDermott plans for long nights while prepping for Dallas
Head coach Sean McDermott won't get too much sleep this week. Fresh off a dominating 20-3 win against Denver he went right back to work prepping for a matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.
"Yeah I'm going back to work," McDermott said after Sunday's game. "I'm gonna go over there and change and try to get something to eat and get back to work here. There's not a lot of time."
The Bills have three days to prepare for a matchup with the NFC East leading Dallas Cowboys when the two play at 4:30 pm. on Thanksgiving.
"Good opponent, at their place, a lot of tradition and it will be an opportunity for us to put our best foot forward against a very good opponent," McDermott said. "I think they lead the NFC East and they're well coached with a lot of weapons on that football team. It'll be a big challenge."
3. Josh Allen plans to provide these guys dinner for Sunday's performance
Buffalo played with a few replacements on Sunday. Cody Ford held his own against Von Miller and Spencer Long and Jon Feliciano stepped up when Mitch Morse left the game.
Morse departed with a finger injury. His status is currently unknown. In the offensive line reshuffle, Feliciano moved over to center while Long went in to play right guard. The offense operated effectively after the changes were made.
"There's not much difference, I have trust in our guys," Josh Allen said. "Next man up. Spencer came in and did a great job at right guard. That's what I was very pleased about and we didn't really miss a step there. I think upfront we played our tails off and shout out to those guys. I told them, we get this first down on that last drive, I owe them a little dinner."
