CHICAGO, IL. — Bears QB Caleb Williams led a fast start and the Chicago Bears never looked back, cruising to a 38-0 win over the Buffalo Bills in a preseason game Sunday night at Soldier Field. Here are 10 things to know from the game, along with highlights and key stats.

1. Bears' hot start

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams kicked things off to start the game. Williams quickly found tight end Cole Kmet for a 29-yard play to bring it to the Chicago 45-yard line. Later in the drive, Williams hit rookie tight end Colston Loveland for 18 yards to bring it to Buffalo's 41. The drive finished with on 3rd & 5 from Buffalo's 36. Williams found wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus for a 36-yard touchdown. The Bears have the early 7-0 lead with just over 11 to play in the first quarter.

2. Trading punts

Quarterback Mike White gets the start for the second week of the preseason. The Bills went three and out for their first drive after two false starts brought it to 3rd & 19 from Buffalo's 24. White couldn't connect with wide receiver Elijah Moore, and they were forced to punt. The Bears were also forced to punt on their second drive due to the rush and coverage working together. Williams had three straight incompletions during the drive. Buffalo's second drive started much smoother with a big play by White and wide receiver Tyrell Shavers for 22 yards. But, the drive stalled on an incompletion and the Bills were forced to punt again.

3. A second straight scoring drive for Chicago

After the Bills go three and out for the second time in the first half, Bagent started their second drive of the second quarter off hot. After a defensive holding penalty, Bagent launched a pass near the sideline to wide receiver Tyler Scott for 35 yards. Three plays later, Bagent linked up with Burden for a six-yard gain to bring it to Buffalo's 11. The next play, Bagent found Scott for toe-tapping 11-yard touchdown to extend their lead to 21-0 with just under 10 minutes to play in the second quarter.

4. Chicago having a day

The Bills still can't get the offense going after a fourth straight punt gives the ball back to the Bears. With just under seven to play in the second quarter, Bagent again hits Burden for a 21-yard play. Three plays later, Bagent found wide receiver Samori Toure for a 23-yard gain on 3rd & 4 to bring it to Buffalo's 30. After gaining 11 yards from two plays on the ground, Bagent continued to look on point with an 11-yard pass to wide receiver Miles Boykin. A couple of short plays bring it to Buffalo's one-yard line and running back Ian Wheeler takes it in for the score to cap off a 12-play drive. The Bears have the big 28-0 lead with under two to play in the first half.

5. Turnover on downs!

The Bills are forced to punt once again, so the Bears get their hurry up offense going with 1:04 to go in the half. Bagent connects with tight end Joel Wilson for 16 yards. Two plays later, cornerback Brandon Codrington pressured Bagent and forced an incompletion. Later in the drive, it looked like defensive tackle DeWayne Carter forced a fumble and scooped it to score. The call was unfortunately reversed and ruled an incompletion. On 4th & 7 at the 50, defensive end Michael Hoecht sacked Bagent for a loss of 12 yards. The Bills attempted a 56-yard field goal by Caden Davis, but it was no good. That's the end of the first half. The Bears lead 28-0.

6. Bills struggle to start the second half

Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky is in to start the third quarter for Buffalo. Running back Frank Gore brings some life to Buffalo's offense thanks to a 12-yard run and a 13-yard reception. Two straight offensive penalties make it 1st & 30 for the Bills. On 3rd & 18, Trubisky targets Shavers near the sidelines, but it's an incompletion. Thankfully, the Bears got called for pass interference, giving Buffalo the first down. After two incompletions, on 4th & 8, the Bills get called for a face mask penalty. Buffalo puts their longest drive of the game together (eight plays), but it'll be a turnover on downs to start the third quarter for Buffalo.

7. 40-yard field goal by Bears

The Bears start their drive at Buffalo's 47 because of the turnover on downs. The Bills quickly get called for roughing the passer, so the Bears move to Buffalo's 26. The Bears move the ball enough to get within field goal range. Bears kicker Cairo Santos is good from 40 yards. That extends their lead to 31 points.

8. Trading punts and a fumble

The Bills unfortunately have another three and out. Buffalo's defense then forces a three and out due to two straight incompletions. New Bills defensive back Tre Herndon provided tight coverage during the drive and helped force the second incompletion.

With 6:18 to go in the third quarter, wide receiver K.J. Hamler starts the drive off with some juice thanks to a 15-yard run. Trubisky targets Hamler on the next play for a seven-yard catch. A couple plays later, Trubisky hits wide receiver Stephen Gosnell for 11 yards. The Bills continue to move the ball with a 12-yard run by Gore. At Chicago's 21, Gore was targeted again, but the RB fumbled and Chiacgo recovered.

To start the final quarter, Wheeler picks up 18 total yards with two straight run plays. Four plays later, Bills rookie safety Wande Owens picks up a tackle for loss on Buffalo's 30. The next play, Reed finds wide receiver JP Richardson for 15 yards to bring it to Buffalo's 16. On 3rd & 4 from Buffalo's 10, Wheeler rushes in for the touchdown. The Bears lead 38-0 thanks to a 14-play, 86-yard drive.

10. Bears win

Bills quarterback Shane Buechele enters the game with 9:29 to go. The Bills pick up two straight first downs thanks to a 10-yard Gore run and an 11-yard catch by wide receiver Deon Cain. After three incompletions in a row, the Bills are forced to punt. The Bears then pick up three first downs early in the drive due to two catches and one long run. Two short wheeler runs brings it to Buffalo's three. Reed kneels three times to end the game. The Bears win 38-0.
