Bell back at practice

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -Buffalo Bills starting left tackle Demetrius Bell returned to practice and is expected to play against Cleveland this weekend.

Bell said after practice Wednesday he felt ready to play after a groin injury forced him to miss a 38-10 loss at Miami on Sunday. Reserve defensive tackle John McCargo (groin) also practiced after missing last weekend's game.

Starting safeties Donte Whitner (right thumb) and Bryan Scott (left ankle) did not practice as both could miss a second straight game.

Reserve defensive end Chris Ellis' status is uncertain. He remains excused after his mother died last weekend and will likely be a healthy inactive for Sunday's game.

"We know that the services are Friday and I don't expect him back before then," said head coach Dick Jauron. "It's one of those situations where it's in the hands of the player."
