Bills promote RB Anderson

Rookie running back Andre Anderson has been called upon more than once to fill a void at the position for the Bills. In training camp he was signed to help provide carries after injuries left the running back position shorthanded in the preseason. Two weeks ago he was signed to the team's practice squad after Joique Bell was signed away by Philadelphia. Now in the wake of the Marshawn Lynch trade, Anderson has been promoted to the active roster.

With just two running backs on the 53-man squad, Anderson was elevated to active status from the Bills practice squad and will serve as the third running back behind Jackson and C.J. Spiller.

Anderson, an undrafted rookie free agent out of Tulane, first joined the Bills on Aug. 16th after both Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch were lost to injury on the first series of the team's preseason opener at Washington.

A 1,000-yard rusher, his senior season for the Green Wave, Anderson (5'11" 211) also played in the East-West Shrine game prior to the 2010 NFL draft.

After going undrafted Anderson was signed by the Oakland Raiders as a rookie free agent in late April, but was released during the Raiders' spring camps. Anderson is known as a slashing one-cut back that has receiving ability after catching 55 passes over his final two collegiate seasons.

Klopfenstein releasedOn Wednesday the Bills also terminated the contract of TE Joe Klopfenstein. The tight end had been on injured reserve.
