Bills re-sign kickoff specialist Jordan Gay

He was moved off the roster in favor of a veteran kicker just three weeks ago, but kickoff specialist Jordan Gay is back with the club and will handle kickoff duties Sunday against Jacksonville at Wembley Stadium.

Gay, who served as the team's kickoff specialist in 2014 and the start of 2015, was released after the team's Week 4 loss to the Giants. Buffalo signed veteran kicker Bill Cundiff, who handled kickoffs for the Week 5 game at Tennessee, but was not nearly as effective.

Cundiff was released last week and place kicker Dan Carpenter pulled double duty handling kickoffs and field goals.

In the two games in which Gay did not appear in Weeks 5 and 6, all seven kickoffs were returned by the opponent.

In his first four games for the Bills this season 61 percent of Gay's kickoffs (14-23) have gone for touchbacks, while just eight have been returned.

To make room on the roster for Gay, the Bills released S Josh Bush.
