The Buffalo Bills announced the release of linebackers Mike Balogun and Pierre Woods Friday. Both were in season pickups by the Bills during the 2010 campaign due to a rash of injuries at the position.
Balogun was signed by Buffalo off of Tampa Bay's practice squad on Nov. 10 and appeared in games against Minnesota and Cleveland in Weeks 13 and 14 playing mostly on special teams.
Woods was claimed off waivers by the Bills on Dec. 6 last season after he was released by the New England Patriots on Dec. 3. The outside linebacker appeared in the last four games of the season for Buffalo also serving primarily on special teams.
The Bills now have eight linebackers under contract on their roster.
