Cox was the team's third of three seventh round selections. In accordance with team policy terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Pittsburgh defensive back was a two-year starter and finished with 98 career tackles, a fumble recovery and two interceptions. He was named the Panther's Most Improved Defensive Player as a junior, when the Miami native finished with 51 stops and an interception.
