Buffalo Region (Section VI) Coach of the Week

Orchard Park head coach Jeff Weiss was named the Buffalo region Coach of the Week for the week ending Sunday, May 3. Weiss has served as Orchard Park's varsity girls flag head football coach since the program's inception in 2022. Additionally, he has been the school's boys junior varsity tackle head coach since 2021 and the flag football head coach at D'Youville University since the program's founding in 2025.

During his time with the Quakers, his teams have compiled a 36-10-1 overall record, including playoffs. In 2025, Orchard Park won the Section VI Class A title and played in the Far West Regionals. The Quakers have reached the sectional semifinals every season.

"My goal as a coach is to maximize the potential of each of my athletes by forming meaningful relationships, instilling confidence through preparation and encouragement, and helping them learn skills that are valuable beyond the playing field," said Weiss. "I want to give back to my community and help create lifelong memories for my athletes."

The Quakers have assisted with a flag football camp for athletes with disabilities through a program called High Five, and each season we host a "gold game" to raise money for pediatric cancer through the P.U.N.T. Pediatric Cancer Collaborative (Formerly P.U.N.T. Foundation)

Orchard Park is 5-3-2 in 2026, including key wins over West Seneca and Lockport.

Rochester Region (Section V) Coach of the Week

Aquinas head coach Chris Urban was named the Rochester region Coach of the Week for the week ending Sunday, May 3. Aquinas is a brand-new program in 2026, and the Little Irish have raced to a 10-1 record. Urban was a girls flag football assistant coach at Webster Schroeder in 2025 and helped lead the Warriors to the state title. He currently coaches tackle football at McQuaid Jesuit and is a former head tackle football coach at Webster Schroeder, where his team won a Section V title in 2009.

"Chris loves working with student-athletes," said Aquinas Athletic Director Anthony Bianchi. "He is a transformational and student-centered coach that makes an impact way beyond the field of play. He is extremely dedicated and will always have the athletes he coaches well prepared. He has a passion for education-based athletics."

With its 10-1 record to begin the 2026 campaign, the Little Irish are currently seeded second in Section V Class CI. Aquinas averages 34 points per game on offense and allowing only 7.8.

Syracuse Region (Section III) Coach of the Week

Westmoreland head coach Tim Moore was named the Syracuse region Coach of the Week for the week ending Sunday, May 3. In the program's inaugural season, the Bulldogs have notched a 6-2-1 record. Moore began his coaching career in 2021 as an assistant offensive and defensive line coach for the tackle football program at Proctor High School. He has also coached travel softball and varsity girls basketball and served as an assistant coach for Westmoreland's varsity boys football program.

"Coaching has always been my lifelong passion," said Moore. "A retired police officer with over 20 years of service, I had long dreamed of dedicating himself to coaching football after concluding that chapter of my life. Now, as a Wellness Coordinator with ICAN, stationed within the Westmoreland School District, I've found the perfect opportunity to impact young athletes both on and off the field. My greatest passion lies in inspiring athletes to grow and flourish - helping to shape and guide them through that process in every way possible."

Moore's favorite flag football memory comes from just last week, when former Buffalo Bills running back Latavius Murray stopped by practice to spend time with the team. Murray participated in a full practice session, and Coach Moore expressed that having a player of his caliber take time out of his schedule to be with the program was truly incredible.

This past week, the Bulldogs recorded wins over Baldwinsville and Jamesville-DeWitt. In nine games, Westmoreland has allowed a total of only 38 points.
