Buffalo Bills reveal renders of bison statues at Highmark Stadium's Family Circle

final rendering 5[28]

The Buffalo Bills are excited to unveil exclusive renders of the bison statues set to anchor the Family Circle at Highmark Stadium.

Crafted with a steel substructure and a stainless-steel outer layer, these striking sculptures will serve as a powerful visual representation of the strength and resilience of the Buffalo community, embodying the spirit that defines both the team and the city.

"This portion of the project has taken several years to come together. Right from the start, we wanted to place American Bisons in front of our stadium. It's taken a lot of hard work and coordination; we're thrilled with the result," said Frank Cravotta, the Bills Senior Vice President of Design, Stadium Operations.

The installation will feature three bison: a bull, cow and calf—symbolizing family.

The bull will stand an impressive 27 feet tall and stretch 29 feet in length, weighing approximately 23,000 pounds and creating a commanding presence at the entrance to Family Circle. For perspective, Bills quarterback Josh Allen stands 6-foot-5, making the bull more than four times Allen's height.

The cow will measure 22 feet tall and 23 feet long, while the calf — representing the next generation of Bills Mafia — will stand 12 feet tall and 13 feet long.

At night, the statues will come to life with five programmable lighting systems. The bull and cow have been uniquely designed to emit smoke through their nostrils, evoking the image of breath in a Western New York winter.

"I didn't expect just how complex the engineering and fabrication would be for these statues. The sculptures are very large and one-of-a-kind," Cravotta said.

The inclusion of bison at Highmark Stadium is something that has been in the works since the inception of the stadium's design phase, and the full project will be completed prior to the opening of Highmark Stadium.

"Like the progressive design of our stadium, the Bisons help us look ahead to the future," Cravotta shared.

The Buffalo Bills are excited to unveil exclusive renderings and a behind-the-scenes photo gallery of the bison statues set to anchor the Family Circle at Highmark Stadium. The installation will feature three bison: a bull, cow and calf—symbolizing family.

The bison are currently being constructed at ART Research Enterprises in Lancaster, PA, led by sculpture artist Blessing Hancock.

"Blessing Hancock is an acclaimed sculpture artist whose impressive work can be found around the world. She has a real talent for telling community stories, and the Bison family captures our story in a truly unique way," Cravotta said.

The base for the bison statues is complete, alongside the surrounding area in Family Circle, which will feature plaques honoring Bills greats throughout the years. This inviting space will include benches for fans and visitors to gather, fostering a sense of community and connection.

Additionally, Bills greats will be honored inside Highmark Stadium at the Skyline Deck, which offers a breathtaking view of downtown Buffalo.
