After being unable to practice the entire week, Bills right guard Brad Butler and right defensive end Aaron Schobel will not play at Miami Sunday.
"Brad and Aaron are going to be out for the game," said head coach Dick Jauron following Friday's practice.
For Schobel it will be the second straight game he'll be sitting. The eight-year veteran had not missed a game in his entire career before last Sunday's game against San Diego. The two-time Pro Bowl defensive end spent the entire week in a walking boot, just as he did the week before.
"We think that he definitely has made progress, but it is still immobilized," said Jauron. "We want to make sure that we get him well."
Butler was injured in last week's game suffering a sprained knee. He returned to the game briefly, but could not continue as he was replaced by veteran guard Jason Whittle. Jauron confirmed that Whittle will again start in Butler's place Sunday.
Starting left cornerback Terrence McGee, who has missed most of the last three games, might be ready to return Sunday, though he was limited Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and is listed as questionable.
"I would say he did about the same each day," said Jauron. "He didn't practice every play."
Jauron admitted that after two weeks of not practicing, he was hesitant to give McGee a full workload this week, but he's encouraged by what he saw from the cornerback. McGee will be a game time decision on Sunday.
Also questionable for Sunday are cornerback Ashton Youboty and starting center Melvin Fowler. Youboty has not practiced all week and is considered unlikely to dress for the game while Fowler has been limited in practice all week.
Both Fowler and Youboty are game time decisions in addition to McGee. Fowler and McGee are expected to test their injuries in pre-game warmups. Youboty may not be ready to do that.
"Some of them will work before the game and then there's a lot of conversation," said Jauron. "We'll ask them how they're doing, how they're feeling and we'll talk to Bud (Carpenter) and our doctors."
With Duke Preston getting almost all the first team reps at center in practice this week, it's likely that even if Fowler is healthy enough to play that he won't start.
