DL Johnson, RG Urbik might return this week

It's far from a definite, but DL Spencer Johnson and starting RG Kraig Urbik could return to the lineup this Sunday when Buffalo hosts Tennessee at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Head coach Chan Gailey provided an update on the two linemen Monday afternoon.

"Spencer and Urbik have got the best chances to make it," he said in reference to Sunday's game. "Cordy (Glenn) is probably the furthest behind at this point."

Glenn, Johnson and Urbik have missed the last two games after all three sustained ankle injuries in Week 4. Urbik was seen walking around the facility at One Bills Drive without an immobilizer boot on his injured ankle as was the case two weeks ago.

Buffalo had to elevate OL David Snow and DT Jay Ross from the practice squad last week to help replenish the depth on the offensive and defensive interior for this past Sunday's game at Arizona. Both players were released Monday. Whether they're re-signed to the team's practice squad remains to be seen.

Knowing that leaves Buffalo with Alex Carrington, Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams as the only other defensive tackles, it would seem the Bills are optimistic Johnson will be ready to play Sunday.

The case would appear to be the same for Urbik as the offensive line has only six healthy players on the active roster after Snow was released not counting Urbik. Buffalo typically dresses seven offensive linemen on game days.

When asked if Johnson and Urbik will practice on Wednesday, Gailey had a one word answer.

"Maybe," he said.
