WHITNER EXCUSED: Donte Whitner was not at practice tonight due to an excused absence that was family related. Coach Jauron said it had been on the calendar for some time and they knew it was coming up. No word on when he'll be back.

Schouman could be out weeks

SCHOUMAN COULD BE OUT WEEKS: Tight end Derek Schouman's knee injury from Thursday night's game is not season ending, but it could keep him out for "weeks" according to head coach Dick Jauron.

"Derek's going to be a little while, we're hoping not a long while," said Jauron. "At this point Bud (Carpenter) is talking in the weeks. So it's not good, but it could have been worse."

Jauron would only say that Schouman has a knee strain. We'll have mroe on this on the home page tonight.

Hardy's hamstring sore

HARDY'S HAMSTRING SORE: James Hardy's hamstring was sore tonight so he did not participate in practice. Coach Jauron said the hamstring was a bit sore going into the game against Pittsburgh, but thought Hardy ran routes well in the game.

Hopefully this tricky hamstring doesn't curtail Hardy's progress further.

Reed looked good

REED LOOKED GOOD: With Josh Reed back out on the field for the first time in better than 10 days it was a welcome sight for his teammates on offense. Reed looked pretty good getting in and out of his routes tonight at practice.

He did say he got hit again in the exact same spot on the back of his pelvis so he hopes he feels okay tomorrow, but otherwise everything went well for him.

We'll have more on this story on the home page and in Bills Roundup.

REED, ESTES PARTICIPATING: In the close morning walk through Sunday, Patrick Estes and Josh Reed participated in the walk through portion of the workout as the two appear closer to returning to the lineup.

No word yet as to whether they're fully cleared, but they should each have, at the very least, limited participation in tonight's practice.

McGee puts on 10 pounds
Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 1:40 PM ET

MCGEE PUTS ON 10 POUNDS: Terrence McGee was 10 pounds heavier on the field Sunday morning during the closed walk through sessions' 7-on-7 segment.

That's because McGee was wearing a weighted vest. It's a training device used mainly by skill position players in practice, to help them feel faster when they shed the vest.

Consider it football's answer to the weighted doughnut on a baseball bat.

YOUBOTY GETTING SLOT WORK: During the closed morning walk through practice, Ashton Youboty got some reps in the slot in nickel situations during a 7-on-7 segment. The coaching staff has Youboty now competing with Will James, Reggie Corner and Leodis McKelvin for that role in addition to duties on the corner.
