THE MARCUS STROUD MAILBAG: This season we at Buffalobills.com are very excited to announce that Marcus Stroud will be answering fan questions every week on camera in our multimedia section.

In preparation for the first installment we ask that you send your questions to me at Askchris@bills.nfl.net and just put question for Marcus in the subject line so I know it's for him.

Marcus will answer a handful of questions on camera adding his dramatic flair while also providing his football knowledge. So bring it. Marcus is ready.

Jauron targeting opener for Schouman

Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 6:40 PM ET

JAURON TARGETING OPENER FOR SCHOUMAN: It's not a lock, but it looks like Derek Schouman stands a good chance of being ready for the opener, which is good news for the tight end position which had just Robert Royal as the only healthy player on the roster.

Schouman practiced just in individual position drills, but Jauron says he believes the second-year tight end will be ready for Sunday's game.

We'll have more on this story Monday in Bills Focus on the multimedia page including comment from Schouman regarding progress with the knee.

Evans contract update

Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 5:47 PM ET

EVANS EXTENSION BEFORE OPENER UNLIKELY: Any chance of seeing Lee Evans signed to a contract extension prior to the home opener Sunday seems a bit less likely in light of how negotiations were characterized by Lee Evans Sunday.

By no means did Evans indicate there was a setback or a stall in negotiations, but when asked to provide a report on any progress he indicated not much is different of late.

"Not really. Not really," Evans said. "We're still working forward. We still have a ways to go, but we're moving forward so it's good."

Saying there's a "ways to go" likely means a new deal for Buffalo's top receiver will come during the 2008 season.

Seahawks coming in wounded

SEAHAWKS COMING IN VERY SHORTHANDED: The injuries at wide receiver for Seattle are well known (Bobby Engram, Deion Branch) as neither of their top two wideouts are likely to play in the opener at Buffalo, and now Ben Obamanu is on I-R after breaking his collar bone in the preseason finale.

But the league's suspension of pass rushing DT Rocky Bernard and nickel corner Jordan Babineaux could be too much for Seattle to bear. Both were suspended for the opener, Bernard for violation of the personal conduct policy, Babineaux the substance abuse policy.

Falcons sign Jason Jefferson

FALCONS SIGN JASON JEFFERSON: Former Bills DT Jason Jefferson has signed with Atlanta and ironically replaces another former Bills DT Tim Anderson.

Seattle also clipped former Bills DT Larry Tripplett, who may be of interest to Indy, a team in search of DT help.

EDWARDS SET FOR SUNDAY: After practicing fully on Sunday, Trent Edwards is good to go for the opener against Seattle in a week. Check Bills Roundup in the multimedia section of Buffalobills.com for more on this tonight.
