Kyle Williams a no go for Bills today

It's not the caliber of player the Bills defense wants to lose in a week when their defense is trying to rebound from a subpar performance in Oakland last week. But Buffalo will be without the services of veteran DT Kyle Williams in the lineup.

He developed back spasms Thursday night into Friday this week, which were so bad he was unable to practice Friday and was listed as questionable. It was hoped that Williams would have recovered enough to test his back in pre-game warmups, but his condition did not improve to the point where that was an option.

This will be the first game that Williams misses. He started in each of Buffalo's 12 games prior to today. By most accounts the defensive lineman was playing at a Pro Bowl level. Second on the team in tackles for loss, tied for third in sacks and fourth in tackles, the 11-year vet has been a key cog in the team's third-ranked pass rush.

Williams also makes all the defensive line stunts and end game calls on the field in pass rush situations. Those duties will fall to Leger Douzable today.

Here is the full list of Bills inactives.

QB Cardale Jones

WR Dez Lewis

RB Jonathan Williams

LB Lerentee McCray

TE Logan Thomas

TE Gerald Christian

DL Kyle Williams
