BACKGROUND

Was the first selection in the fifth round (134th overall) by the Bills in the 2006 draft…became the first player selected by the team from LSU since 2002 when the Bills selected Josh Reed with their first of two 2nd round picks (36th overall)

THE 2013 SEASON

-Selected as a team captain by his teammates for the third consecutive season

-Recorded a career-high 10.5 sacks, finishing tied for second in the category among NFL defensive tackles in 2013 en route to being selected to the Pro Bowl

-Led Buffalo's defense with 21 quarterback hits and posted 68 tackles - third most among NFL defensive tackles

-Made his 95th career start to mark his 100th career game played - all with Buffalo - against New England (9/8)... tallied six tackles (three solo) along with 1.0 sack on Patriots QB Tom Brady

-Vs. CAR (9/15): Posted six tackles (five solo) along with one tackle for a loss and a pass deflection

-At NYJ (9/22): Recorded two tackles and a quarterback hit

-Vs. BAL (9/29): Tallied two quarterback hits and was part of a defense that matched a team record without allowing a rushing first down (three other games) and held the Ravens to 24 rushing yards (tied as the fifth-fewest allowed in team history)

-At CLE (10/3): Registered eight tackles to lead the team's defensive line and added a sack to become the 11th player in team history with 20.0 or more quarterback takedowns

-Vs. CIN (10/13): Made the 100th start of his NFL career and made six tackles (two solo) and split a sack with fellow DL Mario Williams

-At MIA (10/20): Scooped up a fumble forced by DT Mario Williams... possession led to K Dan Carpenter's game-winning field goal... added a solo tackle

-At NO (10/27): Recorded the fifth multi-sack game of his NFL career with 1.5 quarterback takedowns... made a season-high nine tackles (six solo)

-Vs. KC (11/3): Produced two solo tackles while playing a force in the defense's effort to hold Kansas City to 95 rushing yards - the first time the Chiefs were held to 100 or less rushing yards on the season

-At PIT (11/10): Notched his fifth sack of the season to mark the third year in his NFL career with 5.0 or more quarterback takedowns... added three quarterback hits and five tackles (four solo)

-Vs. NYJ (11/17): Recorded 2.0 sacks, increasing his 2013 total to a new season-high of 7.0 and his sixth career multi-sack game... one of his sacks was a stri-sack of Jets QB Geno Smith leading to the team's second touchdown of the day

-Vs. ATL (12/1): Recorded two tackles and a quarterback hit, increasing his season total to 50 stops - his first 50 tackle season since 2010

-At TB (12/8): Tallied five tackles and a tackle for a loss, his 10th stop of the season resulting in negative yardage

-At JAC (12/15): Led Buffalo's defensive line with four solo tackles and 1.5 sacks - increasing his new career-high to 8.5

-Vs. MIA (12/22): Recorded 2.0 sacks - his eighth career and fourth multi-sack game of the season... part of a defense that held Miami to 103 total yards - fifth fewest in team history - and 14 rushing yards, second-fewest

-At NE (12/29): Recorded three assisted tackles and one quarterback hit on Patriots QB Tom Brady
