Monaco wins Bills HS Coach of the Week honors

Al Monaco, Bishop Timon St. Jude High School head football coach, has been named the Buffalo Bills High School Football Coach of the Week after the fourth weekend of the 2008 high school football season. The Bishop Timon St. Jude Tigers are off to an undefeated, 4-0 start after ending Cardinal O'Hara's 24-game win streak against Monsignor Martin Association opponents. Connor Kobis (19 of 25, 197 yards) threw for three touchdowns in the second half while fellow senior Fran Marinaro had nine catches for 97 yards and two scores as the Tigers clawed the Hawks, 24-7, Saturday September 27th in a non-league game. Jon Jackson, a senior, was a two-way standout, catching a touchdown from Kobis and returning an interception 45 yards for Timon's first score.

Coach Monaco is in his third season as the Tigers head varsity football coach.

This is the 12th consecutive year of the Buffalo Bills Coach of the Week program. Each week during the 11-week high school football season, a committee appointed by the Buffalo Bills selects a head football coach as Coach of the Week. The honorees will receive a certificate signed by the Buffalo Bills Head Coach Dick Jauron, Buffalo Bills Chief Operating Officer Russ Brandon and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, plus a Buffalo Bills Coach of the Week cap and $1,000 donation to the school's football program from the Buffalo Bills Youth Foundation. Recognition of the winning coach will be shown on the Buffalo Bills official website (www.buffalobills.com). At the end of the season, one of the weekly award winners will be named Coach of the Year and will receive an additional $1,000 donation to the school's football program.
