OT Green released; Hubbard to practice squad

This past offseason, the Bills thought they had filled their vacant right tackle position with a player that could add a veteran presence to a young offensive line. A knee injury suffered by Cornell Green in training camp ultimately compromised that plan, and the Bills turned the page Tuesday terminating the veteran tackle from their injured reserve list.

Green was placed on injured reserve Nov. 3rd when a knee injury initially suffered early in training camp was re-aggravated during the regular season and required significant time to improve. The nine-year veteran made five starts for the Bills this season.

Rookie Cordaro Howard replaced him in the lineup before a shoulder injury took him off the field. Free agent signee Mansfield Wrotto has started in his place each of the last two games.

Hubbard back on practice squadReleased from the 53-man roster late last week to address a shortage at the fullback position, wide receiver Paul Hubbard was added to the practice squad Tuesday.

Hubbard had been part of the team's practice squad for most of the season, but was called up to the 53-man roster on Nov. 10th after Roscoe Parrish was placed on injured reserve.

In addition the team signed LB Jammie Kirlew (pronounced JAY-me) and DL Kommonyan (Ko) Quaye to the team's practice squad.

Kirlew originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round (232nd overall) draft selection of Denver in the 2010 Draft and was released prior to the regular season. The 6-3, 264-pound linebacker earned All-Big Ten Conference accolades twice at Indiana where he tied for third on the school's all-time sacks list with 23.0 and his 52.5 tackles for a loss tied for second on the Hoosier's list.

Quaye joins the Bills after being released from the Jaguars' practice squad on October 5th. The 6-1, 307-pound defensive lineman originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Jacksonville in 2010.

A four-year letterwinner at South Dakota Quaye posted 99 tackles, 17.5 tackles for a loss, 5.5 sacks and one interception in his career while earning first-team All-Great West Conference honors as a senior in 2009.

Buffalo also placed LB John Russell on the practice squad/injured list. The club also released WR Montez Billings from the practice squad.
