Owens adopts 81 families

Friday night the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse was transformed. No longer was it a football practice facility. For one night it was a winter wonderland for 81 Western New York families adopted by wide receiver Terrell Owens.

Owens' Catch A Dream Foundation, held its third Annual 'December to Remember' event at One Bills Drive for underprivileged families and children. The 81 Western New York families were nominated online at TerrellOwens.com and Owens chose the families he felt were most in need.

Proceeds from Owens birthday celebration in New York City earlier in the week went toward supporting the families on hand Friday night as they enjoyed food, games and holiday music.

"At the end of the day it's all about the families and making them feel special," said Owens. "Ones that wouldn't ordinarily have a good Christmas around this time of the year. That's where my heart is and for myself it brings great joy to know I'm helping some families out."

Through his foundation Owens is providing the selected families with the basic daily needs at this time of year, such as food and warm clothing, through the holiday season.

Owens also took time to thank other celebrities that have helped him in his efforts to make the holiday season a little brighter for those less fortunate by supporting his annual birthday celebration.

"They know that what I do is genuine and it's definitely for a great cause, and they recognize the success that I've had the last few years with my event," said Owens.

"It's a great pleasure and joy and honor to have celebrities like Jamie Foxx and Will Smith pitch in. When you have people like that in your corner to support what you're doing it means you're doing some good things. And I appreciate it wholeheartedly."
