Owens unlikely to play Saturday

T.O.'s toe will likely prevent him from giving it a go Saturday night as the veteran receiver was for all intents and purposes ruled out of Buffalo's second preseason game against Chicago at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

"No, I don't think so," said head coach Dick Jauron when asked if Terrell Owens would play Saturday night. "(Head athletic trainer) Bud (Carpenter) said he is improving and improving quite a lot, but we're not going to take any chances with it."

Owens missed practice again Thursday night, the third practice since suffering a sprained toe in last Sunday's Hall of Fame game.

Earlier in the day Owens tweeted on his twitter account that he could possibly be back practicing on Monday, and Jauron did not deny the accuracy of that timetable.

"Bud (Carpenter) and I haven't really talked about that but I'm sure Bud's talked to him. You know I've been out here, we've kept him off the field as you all know, so I haven't seen a whole lot of him. I'm out here and he's inside getting treatment and getting it as often as he can but as far as I know it's really coming along well."

No word on whether Owens will be standing on the sidelines or sitting up in the press box for Saturday's preseason game at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
