This Season Ticket Member of the Game for preseason Week 3 Alfonzo Calabro, is certainly familiar with game days at New Era Field and has made many fond memories over the years. He can still remember attending Bills games in 1964 with his dad, just four years after the team's founding. A die-hard Bills fan ever since, Calabro has shared his love for the team with his family.
Although his membership started in 2001, Calabro's favorite memory at a Bills game was the 1980 home opener against the Miami Dolphins. The Bills beat Miami, ending a losing streak that lasted an entire decade. Fans rushed the field and Calabro was front and center to watch arguably one of the greatest Bills wins up to that date.
Having been born and raised in Buffalo, Calabro feels a personal connection to the team.
"It's been my whole life," he said about the Bills.
Calabro has witnessed so much Bills history, that it comes as no surprise that he considers Bills Legend Jim Kelly his favorite player of all-time. Calabro respects many members of the current roster but resonates most with 13-year veteran defensive tackle Kyle Williams. His personal connection goes far beyond watching the players on the field, however. In fact, Calabro has been neighbors with various Bills stars over the years.
Despite his many years of fandom, Calabro still finds excitement in each Bills game day. His game day routine is well rehearsed by now and his crew consists of 30 members, including his son, wife and best friends.
"Just starting off, waking up in the morning and getting ready for football [is my favorite part of game day]," he explained. "My friends pick me up, my sons and I, [and] we all get together, and we go tailgate. It's just the whole day, it's unbelievable."
During Calabro's 17 years as a Season Ticket Member, he's enjoyed the many perks associated with his membership. Some of his favorites include knowing that he is guaranteed to get a ticket and the use of his Bills Bucks Card at The Bills Store.
